These team members have had an impact on the team and have put the team in a better place moving forward. They go above and beyond for attendance and have been team leaders throughout their tenure as a team member. These are team members that if removed from the team, the team would no longer function at a high level.

John’s knowledge of physics and an astute grasp of the rules of FRC made him a key team member during his career. He helped the team incorporate our CNC equipment and trained other members of the team on how to machine parts. John was promoted to Systems Engineer and awarded the position of Robot Overlord for the competition season in his Senior year. His mechanical knowledge was instrumental in creating a second robot in the two weeks before the New England District Championships and his input helped guide the team to our first New England District Championship.
John plans on becoming a Junior Mentor for the team while she attends college.
Owen Klein

Owen’s design capabilities and attention to detail were noticed by the team’s mentors during his first year. Due to his proficiency in CAD and organizational skills, he was promoted to Director of Design and Technical for his sophomore year. During this time he helped guide the team in its transition to a new CAD software and helped to reorganize his department. Owen learned to be an accomplished machinist and helped to implement the team’s CNC router to construct more precise robots. He was promoted to Pit Crew for his senior year and used his skills to help design and build a newrobot in two weeks, which helped the team win our first New England District Championship.

Emma’s mechanical ability made her a standout on the team early in her career. She was placed on the pit crew as a sophomore and kept the robot on the field, even in the most challenging situations. She was promoted to Project Engineer and Crew Chief for her senior year. During this time Emma helped to design and build a second robot in two weeks. She managed to keep that robot running during the New England District Championships, which included rebuilding the robot the morning of the playoffs. Her efforts resulted in the team winning our first New England District Championships.

Hayden Heroux

Hayden’s knowledge of programming was evident early in his career. Throughout his time on the team, Hayden became the most knowledgeable programmer the team has had. He was promoted to Lead Programmer for his junior year and Director of Programming and Electrical. Hayden developed a new code library for the team and though he was provided with limited time to test our robots, he worked through every possible issue to make the robots function at a high level. As Operator on Drive Team, his combined efforts helped our team win our first New England District Championship.

Grace was promoted to Director of Media and Public Relations early in her career and had an immediate impact. She created a strong department that won multiple Imagery and Spirit Awards. She also helped to make the team’s buttons sought after at competitions. Grace was on the Impact Presentation Team, which brought home our first Impact Award. Her behind the scenes work on outreach was impressive and she also co-chaired a Women In STEM Conference to help young girls realize their future potential.

Mikaylee started making an impact on the team early in her career and become Electrical Lead. Her hard work was rewarded when she was promoted to Senior President this year. In that capacity she was chair of the Impact Committee and was also on the Impact Presentation Team that helped win our first Impact Award. Besides being an excellent match strategist, Mikaylee was also the base driver for two years and holds the team record for most wins, including the winning match in the Central MASS Event

Julienne was part of many firsts for the team. When she was promoted to Business Manager she developed our first sponsor brochure packet, which had an immediate impact and gained the team important corporate sponsorships. Julienne was on the Impact Presentation Team and her diligent work behind the scenes on outreach and awards helped the team to win our first Impact Award. She also co-chaired a Women In STEM Conference to help young girls realize their future potential.

Richard impressed his team members early in his FRC career with his electrical and coding expertise. His teammates voted him Rising Star during his first year on the team. Richard always exemplified Gracious Professionalism during his career in the team and he was an excellent teacher of other students. He helped to train the students on the electrical system and how to setup and wire the electronics on the robot. Although much of his career was cut short by the pandemic, his coding ability during his senior year helped the team win our first event in team history, the Central MA Event.

Logan developed excellent design and mechanical skills early in his career on the team. He helped develop several robot systems and even with limited machining capabilities, he was able to add complexity to the fabrication of our robots. Logan was also promoted to Pit Crew and it was in this position that his robot and mechanical knowledge stood out.

Elizabeth worked her way up through the team structure and filled many roles. She was adept at speaking to judges and promoting the team. She also helped with match scouting and team structure. She was promoted to team President and helped to organize and run the team in that capacity.

Ellie's mechanical and design abilities helped the team develop some of our more complex and detailed robots. She was promoted to Director of Design and Technical for her junior year and was also promoted to Pit Crew. She became a trusted member of the pit crew and she used her mechanical knowledge to keep robots on the field, even when major repairs were needed.
Maggie Heaney

Maggie's knowledge of the electrical systems of robots was impressive, even as a first year team member. She became an expert at wiring and system integration and was promoted to the Director of Programming and Controls in her junior year. Maggie was also a member of the Drive Team and helped to develop match strategy during competitions.

Jay has become widely recognized as the best Pit Crew Chief that 5112 has had. During their career on the Pit Crew they have had to rebuild our Power Up robot after the elevator bent in half as well as several other major repairs. Jay also served on the Board of Directors for the Outreach department and helped lead Hour of Code at local elementary schools. Besides their work in the pits, they were also a key builder and fabricator for the team.

Luke was a great designer, builder, base driver and team member during his time on the team. Had the pandemic not hit he would have become the winningest driver in team history. His dedication in the lab during build season did not go unnoticed and he became adept and understanding many of the systems on the robot and was able to explain the design and function of the robot to anyone who asked.

Nicholas brought his love of coding and computer science to the team and had an immediate impact. He also planned and hosted a high school coding competition called Code Clash. Besides his coding ability and knowledge of FIRST, Nicholas was always there to lend a hand for last minute projects and to help any team member that needed his help. The team will miss his Slack updates that gave us robotics news before anyone else.

Shane is the most organized Gongolier that we have had on the team. One of his great accomplishments was helping to completely overhaul the Bot Cave, which is our supply closet. Shane also excelled in competitions. He was adept at speaking to judges and explaining all aspects of the team throughout a weekend. Shane’s teammates also had immense respect for him during his time on the team.

Through his years on the Team 5112, Wyatt brought passion and dedication to the team. He became proficient on many systems of the robot and could also repair systems as needed. Wyatt became a drive team member as a senior and showed great knowledge of the game. Unfortunately, the pandemic cut his tenure as manipulator operator short and we never had the opportunity to witness his full potential.

Steve has been one of the most knowledgeable members of Team 5112, with experience in FLL, FTC and FRC. He became a key designer and builder each year and had incredible problem solving skills and also showed maturity beyond his years. This combination culminated in Steve being named Robot Overlord, which entitled him with mentor level robot decision powers at competition.

Noah was a dedicated member of Team 5112, a proficient designer and always led the team with a positive example. Noah pioneered the use of laser cutting for the Gongoliers and this has become an key part of the team’s chassis designs. Noah served as Director of Design during his junior year and was Co - President during his Senior year.

Christopher was a key member of Team 5112 and a dedicated four year member. Chris worked in the Logistics and Safety department and was the Safety Captain for the team, a position he excelled in. Emerson worked his way up to the position of Director of Media and Public Relations for his senior year. His major contribution to that department was to standardize the marketing color pallet for the team. Emerson excelled as the Pit Crew Chief for two years. Emerson’s term as Crew Chief was filled with more major robot repairs in any other two year period and the robot always made it to a match.

Ty was an extremely dedicated member of team 5112 and would routinely be in the lab an additional 20 to 30 hours a week. Ty eventually became the Director of Design and worked tirelessly to standardize the chassis that the team uses and to perfect our adaptation of the west coast chassis. Ty excelled as a human player and was a key part of the teams success at competitions.

Sam worked his way through the ranks of the team to become a Co - President during his senior year. Sam’s most important skill during his time was the ability to excel in any position on the team and to understand all of the most important aspects of FIRST. Sam was also a team member that epitomized the definition of Gracious Professionalism and constantly promoted that to his team members.

Chris has possibly dedicated more time to working in the lab than any other team member has. There was seldom a day when he was working during build season. He was also Director of Programming and Controls for two years and worked to help improve the code of the robot and to also teach younger students. Chris was also promoted as the manipulator driver on the drive team and did the job well.

In that position he worked tirelessly to coordinate build season and ensure a completed robot. Cam is was an adept base driver and excelled in this position for two years. Brian was Lead Designer in his junior year for The Gongoliers and was assigned the task of completing all of the CAD models for our robot. His efforts led to a professional looking set of plans that could be easily manipulated for the many changes that we made during build season. It was his hard work and dedication that led to Brian being appointed as Co-President of FRC Team 5112 his senior year.

Kyle was a dedicated team member and one of the original Gongoliers. His work in creating a world class Programming and Controls department has put the team in a great place for years to come. Kyle was Director of Programming and Controls for two years and was also the drive team coach for two years. Kyle continues to mentor the team and has been appointed Lean Mentor - Programming and Controls.

Claire created a culture of organization for the team and received a standing ovation at the Rhode Island District Event for her attention to keeping our pits clean and organized. Kayleigh was Director of Public Relations and Finance and was a dedicated member of the Gongoliers. Keyleigh was an important team member and excelled during competitions. She was one of the best spokespersons the team has ever had and helped to foster many positive relationships with other teams. The teams website was overhauled under her watch and now displays the professional nature of the team.

Brendan Doyle was promoted to the position of President of Team 5112 in 2015. He proved to be a very competent leader that cared tremendously about the team, helping us accomplish our goals. Brendan was also a strong leader during the pressures of competition and held the position of coach.

Zachary was the lead designer and Director of Design for team 5112. His work allowed us to plan our robot and create a more efficient design. He also emerged as a leader on the team and worked with Emily Yang on the implementation of a pneumatic system.

Derrick proved to be an extremely valuable asset to the team. He took the lead on many aspects of the robot and quickly emerged as a team leader. Derrick soon became the teams human player due to his knowledge of the game and was one of the strongest human players at competition.
